Why we believe everyone should do coach training
For years, I dreamed of walking comfortably along the beach in my bikini – a vision of self-acceptance that felt just out of reach. I imagined the freedom and confidence that would come with embracing myself wholly. Maybe you, too, have something you long to change but find yourself blocked, no matter what you’ve tried. Perhaps, like me, you wonder: What’s stopping this transformation?
You might love your job or relationship, feel mostly in alignment with your goals and still find yourself repeating the same struggles. Why? The answer often lies beneath the surface, in the hidden beliefs shaping our lives.
This struggle for change is familiar to us all, isn’t it?
Maybe you’re stuck in a cycle of financial strain despite endless hard work, unsure how to break free. Or perhaps you find yourself unable to voice your needs in relationships, feeling unseen or unappreciated. You might be so driven by responsibilities, finishing every last email, putting everyone’s needs before your own, that rest feels impossible. Whatever the challenge, change can feel elusive.
The power of shifting your narrative
The truth is: YOU CAN CHANGE THIS! You can break free from the invisible patterns shaping your life. However, like anything worthwhile, this requires commitment, a conscious decision to invest time, energy and resources into your growth.
The starting point: Building momentum without rock bottom
Too often, real change only comes after we hit rock bottom, when we’re finally too dissatisfied to keep going as we were. But imagine harnessing that drive before reaching such a low point. To do this, we need two things: Clarity and dissatisfaction.
The change formula: A tool for transformation
Transformation becomes possible when you have a clear vision of what you want, combined with enough dissatisfaction with your current state to outweigh the resistance to change. This combination fuels momentum and it’s known as ‘The Change Formula’. This model (by psychologist Dr. David Gleicher) provides a framework for change, emphasising three elements: Dissatisfaction with the present, a compelling vision for the future and concrete steps forward.
The formula is simple yet profound: Change = Dissatisfaction × Vision × First Steps > Resistance.
Consider this: Ask yourself what areas in your life you’re dissatisfied with. Imagine the life you would like to live. And then ask: “What small step can I take to begin?” Even one small change, a new habit or a different response, can start shifting deeply held patterns.
The hidden driver: Beliefs and their role in shaping behaviour
There’s a deeper layer to transformation: Your belief system. Most of our actions are rooted in beliefs formed early in life, often before we could think critically. These beliefs, mostly subconscious, influence our daily behaviours, keeping us stuck in cycles without our even realising it.
Uncovering hidden beliefs: A case from my journey
This year, I felt an urge for change, restless, like something needed to shift. I reflected on my journey and accomplishments with pride, yet I couldn’t escape this restlessness. I sat down to envision a new life, expecting creativity to flow. Instead, I found a blank canvas. For months, I felt blocked.
Then, I turned inward and uncovered two surprising beliefs that had been running the show: ‘Money isn’t for me’ and ‘My choices don’t matter’. Absurd, right? But these beliefs, deeply embedded, had quietly influenced my actions and outlook. Recognising them was a turning point. When I saw them clearly, their power over me dissolved. A few weeks later, my mind opened to new possibilities.
Your path forward: Recognise, release, reclaim
Take a moment to explore your own beliefs. Write down an area of your life where you feel blocked and ask: ‘What might I believe about this, deep down’. Sometimes, the simple act of seeing these beliefs loosens their hold. From there, new pathways can open.
