Human Design and Dream Interpretation

Could Human Design provide a unique perspective for interpreting and understanding dreams?

Human Design encompasses a branch dedicated to dream interpretation called Sleep Design, otherwise referred to as dream rave or dream analysis. This inclusion makes perfect sense given that Human Design (HD) is a holistic science that covers diet, environment, career and numerous other vital factors for living an optimal and fulfilling life.

Over the past decade, particularly in the last five years, HD has progressively entered the mainstream, securing its position alongside time-honoured modalities such as astrology and a range of other traditional or esoteric systems. This increasingly popular science has captured the attention of all age groups, as it aims to educate individuals on understanding their true selves and living authentically according to their energic blueprint.

While information is abundant on how to understand your HD type, strategy and authority, the opposite is true for sleep design. In fact, the information so readily available is aligned with understanding one’s waking design. Our waking HD bodygraph comprises nine centres, 36 channels and 64 gates. The bodygraph is crucial for revealing key components of self-understanding. One pivotal aspect is type, which is distinct from psychological or personality typing. Instead, type relates to the body, genetics and aura. There are four types: Manifestor, generator (this includes manifesting generator), projector and reflector.

When asleep, we transition to a five-centred being with six channels and 15 gates. The classification system of type remains consistent. This means you will typically have a different design when you’re asleep than when you’re awake. You could be a generator by day and a projector by night or vice versa – there are many permutations. What makes your dreamscape unique is the configuration of the active gates, channels and centres, plus planetary transits. As a five-centred being asleep, you are exposed to three distinct domains within the dream state: The light field, demon realm and earth plane. Each domain encompasses specific themes and experiences that might manifest in your dreams. It is not guaranteed that one will dream within all three domains; in fact, one might experience dreams exclusively within a single domain.

At the highest level, the dream domains set the theme and the channels merge the energies of the gates together, but the gates themselves offer individual dynamics, almost like unique keys unlocking different aspects of our energetic psyche. Each gate is linked to a specific codon that governs related genetic expressions. Your sleep and waking designs are connected by common codon chemistry. This chemistry contributes distinct qualities and energies, shaping how we interpret and interact with the thematic elements of our dreams. This interplay results, in some cases, in recurring dreams or intense nightmares in which one flees from danger only to wake up sweating and unsettled.

In some cases, nightmarish dreams persist from childhood to adult life, causing an individual to struggle with turmoil, fear and aggression in the dream realm throughout their life. A closer inspection of your sleep design might reveal that these dreams shape and prepare you to respond to real-world challenges and conflicts. Conversely, dreams of taking risks or jumping off cliffs suggest the opposite. Depending on the specific line and gate activation, these dreams might be advising you to step back, take fewer risks and act according to your strategy and authority in your waking design.

Understanding your sleep design allows you to interpret your dreams through an entirely different lens. The market is still ripe for books and articles on this subject and even finding a free version of your sleep chart is not straightforward. However, this does not mean that accessing this information is impossible; it simply requires some searching on Google and YouTube. Or consulting with a human design reader/analyst. A summary table has been provided to be used alongside your sleep chart, once sourced, as a means of understanding the basics. There is a great deal more to unpick, but it’s well worth it. If dream interpretation is an interest, you’re going to love traversing this landscape.
