Mercury is associated with the throat chakra and understanding the condition of Mercury in an astrological chart reveals glimpses into themes of the throat chakra. The same is true of the Sun and Moon and the third eye chakra. The more in-depth expression of a planet should also take into account its degree in the zodiac, house position and aspects to it. In our concluding article in this series, let’s keep things light for the chakras.
Mercury in Aries, reveals that there is a tendency to have rushed and fast-paced communication. ‘I will do this.’ ‘Can this be done?’ Words focus on action. There is a sense of impatience, bluntness and abruptness in the communication.
Mercury in Taurus reveals a slower pace of speech. There is a sense of stubbornness and need to express oneself in a set way. Feeling secure helps one with this placement to communicate more effectively.
Mercury in Gemini. Mercury rules this sign and Mercury enjoys all forms of communication in this sign, with a flare of fun and good doses of witty humour. There is a need to network and be involved in banter, more than usual.
Mercury in Cancer reveals a need to express nurture and care through words and acts of communication. Here there is more sensitivity to the effects of words as well. The person prefers reassuring and soft communication.
Mercury in Leo gains more attention through their words uttered and written. Sometimes this person may tell the most wonderful fantasy stories and there may be some great sense of grandeur when this person speaks. This person can speak with an air of natural authority.
Mercury in Virgo, reveals a need to pay attention to detail and give more thought to words spoken. There is a natural flair for many forms of communication. Sense of humour is quick with a quicker mind. Remember Mercury rules Virgo so it is a strong placement. Great for editors.
Mercury in Libra, reveals a need to use refined and well-balanced words and communication is almost always done in a beautifully artistic way. The opposite of what you may find when Mercury is in Aries.
Mercury in Scorpio, reveals a need to use words and styles of communication that bring about a flare of mystery and intrigue. The voice may be more seductive and there is a natural investigative approach with speech. Expect more questions.

The desire to discuss and hear about strange and unusual topics and ideas becomes highly evident. There is much curiosity, so the speech often involves asking ‘what if, imagine’.
Mercury in Pisces reveals a need to really feel when communicating. There is a more gentle and dreamy style of communication. The person may be much more sensitive to harsh words and aggressive tones.

Sound is vibration and a powerful healing tool
Think of the power of hand clapping. Often a clap of the hands may clear energy. We can also do this through clicking the tongue at specific points up against the palate. Sound bowls create harmonising vibrations to assist a calmer state.
The power of your voice is unfathomable. A harsh word said in a state of fury can plant a seed of hurt that may last decades. Be mindful of your words and the way you communicate. Pause before talking, reflecting to speak as honestly as is possible while still being sensitive to the feelings of others. This is why with a voice comes responsibility. Speak authentically and yet speak in a way that is responsible.
Remember sound at certain ranges can cause glass to shatter! Sound has huge potential as a weapon to destroy. Yet sound also has the power to heal. Sound can move us to tears with great emotion or to feelings of being reassured, when words are uttered and when songs are sung or instruments played.
Let your throat chakra be one of your choice and freedom. May you always be mindful of its profound power.
Let’s progress to the third eye chakra and cover the link with the Moon. The Moon is deeply affiliated with our emotional sense of self. The Sun is not mentioned as Sun based horoscope astrology is well known and the Moon is given great consideration in Vedic Astrology.

Breaking the cycles of illusion
To help us activate our third eye chakra, we can practise mindfulness, Yoga and meditation, while living a lifestyle that supports physical and emotional wellbeing as much as is possible in our daily lives.
The third eye chakra enables us to see the truth in any situation and to see past superficiality, to see past lies, deceit and fantasy. An active third eye enables enhanced perception.
The third eye links us to the crown chakra. The crown chakra is of a very heightened awareness and spiritual development. It is not so easy to describe what the crown chakra is about in the limited confines of language. Each person’s experience of the crown chakra is sacred. As you work with each of the other chakras, you are always indirectly supporting the crown chakra. Healing is a journey through awareness, and the chakras are the portals to assist in deeper physical, emotional and spiritual processing.
