Where what has completed its purpose falls away, transformation unfolds.
Introduction
Following Awakening and Allowing, we now enter the third stage of the metamorphosis journey: Shedding.
Within nature’s transformation process, there comes a time when the old form can no longer remain as it was. Not because it has failed, but because it has fulfilled its purpose. Within the safety of the cocoon, old layers begin to soften and dissolve, creating space for something new to emerge.
This stage invites us to honour the space between what was and what will be. To release the need for certainty, to soften our grip on old identities, roles, beliefs, and expectations, and to trust the wisdom of transformation unfolding beneath the surface.
Nothing is wasted in this process. Every experience, every lesson, every challenge, and every version of ourselves becomes nourishment for what is yet to come.
In this guided meditation, you are invited to rest within the sacred cocoon, allowing what has completed its purpose to gently fall away while transformation unfolds in its own perfect time.
Preparation for the Meditation
- Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed.
- Sit or lie down in a comfortable position.
- Soften your environment — dim the light if you wish.
- Silence your phone or any distractions.
- You may choose to light a candle or set a simple intention.
- Have a journal nearby for reflection afterwards.
- There is nothing you need to do perfectly. Simply arrive as you are.
You may return to this practice at any time, allowing your awareness to gather and your transformation to unfold in its own rhythm.
Reflection Questions
Take a few moments to reflect on your experience. There are no right or wrong answers. This is your opportunity to notice what is present for you.
The Cocoon
• What did my cocoon feel like during this meditation?
• What emotions, sensations, or images were most present for me?
The Old Skin
• What feels ready to soften or fall away in my life?
• What beliefs, roles, expectations, or ways of being may have completed their purpose?
The Compost
• What lessons, strengths, or wisdom have emerged from experiences I am ready to release?
• How might my past experiences be nourishing my future growth?
The Space Between
• How comfortable am I with uncertainty?
• What happens within me when I stop trying to immediately find answers or solutions?
Trusting Transformation
• Where in my life am I being invited to trust the unfolding process?
• What would it look like to honour the space between what was and what will be?
Integration
• What is one thing I can consciously stop carrying?
• How can I bring more patience, trust, or gentleness to my current stage of transformation?
You do not need to know what you are becoming. The wisdom of the cocoon holds you as old layers soften and fall away, while transformation unfolds in its own perfect time.
