Sunshine, fresh air and wide open spaces

You will never regret time spent at Umngazi Hotel & Spa on the Wild Coast in the Eastern Cape.  A unique beach resort located on a beautifully remote stretch of the Wild Coast – one of South Africa’s most naturally exquisite coastlines. Umngazi enjoys a comfortable sub-tropical climate making it a wonderful year-round holiday destination.

The resort is a well-known family holiday resort. However it also offers a welcome retreat to those looking to escape the realities of life to reconnect, refresh and restore.  Wide open spaces, crystal clear waters, a breathtaking stretch of beach and a wide variety of walks and hikes await those looking for quality time with Mother Nature.  Her natural beauty wraps around you like a blanket and fills you with joy at every turn.

Up on the hillside you will find the Umngazi spa – a delightful haven offering more than the norm.  Guests are spoilt with amazing views and the opportunity to constantly admire the vistas on show.  A highlight of any treatment is soaking up the outdoor sounds of the calming ocean and abundant bird life while being truly and completely pampered.  The beautiful spa bath is a real treat for couples looking to indulge in time with each other, where time slows down long enough to a chilled bottle of bubbles.

At Umngazi, our guests never go hungry with three wholesome and delicious meals included in the daily rate.  For our guests looking for something extra special there are two private dining venues at the resort that can accommodate up to 12 people.  The gorgeous Riverside Gazebo is a magical space to enjoy quality time and a delicious meal with a loved one.  The stylish and chic Green Door Cellar is a wonderful venue to toast life’s many pleasures together with family or friends.

The hotel has nine tastefully furnished suites that are ideal for honeymooners, couples celebrating anniversaries or just because you want to spoil a loved one.  The suites are all located away from the main hotel and guests have exclusive access to the gorgeous Emlonyeni private lounge and pool deck. The main accommodation at the hotel is made up of garden, river and sea-facing rooms, all tastefully and comfortably decorated and each with a uniquely Umngazi outdoor shower.

While on holiday at Umngazi there are a number of activities to choose from including kayaking, SUPing, a game of tennis, a workout in the gym, enjoying the mountain biking routes (available on Garmin), running and hiking trails as well as going on guided hikes which include visits to the local community as well as the indigenous mangrove ecosystem.  The afternoon river cruise is a delight and a firm favourite among the guests.

Umngazi is very well equipped to look after the kiddies and keep them very busy with a daily entertainment programme, wonderful nannies, very experienced gillies, a gorgeous creative corner and an outdoor jungle gym with trampoline.  Children love their time at Umngazi, making new friends and enjoying the sense of freedom and independence that being on the resort offers them.

Umngazi is a real hidden gem and a treat to all who visit.  There are a variety of out of season promotions and packages to choose from.
